Visiting Scientist Program is Returning to Sheridan
The District 67 APT with a grant funded by Spirit of 67 Foundation is bringing the Visiting Scientist Program to all of our K-4 buildings.
Grade 3/4 Classroom Workshops will took place at Sheridan on Wednesday, January 11.
Discovery World hosted workshops for our bigger kids. Each class rotated through experiment stations where the kids had a hands on experience on their respective topic. Much like our science classes, the workshops were intended to be inquiry based. We wanted the kids to ask questions and figure things out.
An Assembly for Grades K-2 will take place at Sheridan on Wednesday, January 18.
Mad Science will put on a fun, interactive demonstration for our littlest scientists.

4th Graders at Open Lands
Well, we made it well into November before old man winter arrived (brrrr). While I sure was enjoying the warm unseasonable temps, I am now excited for all of the fun winter-time activities that are soon to come! Bring on the skating, sledding & hot chocolate!
With Thanksgiving and the holidays fast approaching, we are officially fully into the school year, and I have to say, the continued hard work, time commitments and overall awesomeness of the APT board and our entire Sheridan community continues to blow me away! I am so very thankful to all of the APT board and the overflowing number of parent volunteers who are rocking out all of the events, parties and always bringing new ideas to the table – all in the spirit of improving the lives of our Sheridan Shark students and staff! J Our two APT meetings to-date have been so well-attended and all of the attendees have brought valuable knowledge, updates and resources to the group!
The holiday season is always a fun time for families in our community & we are definitely doing our best to make sure this is also the case at Sheridan! We have lots of amazing upcoming events to make the season magical for both the kiddos and staff, including the back-by-popular-demand hot chocolate bar for teachers (Dec 5-9) and tasty Staff Cookie Boxes which are always a hit! And don’t forget about school events, the Winter Sing on Dec 9 and the Marriott Field trip on Dec 16 too!
As always, if you have any ideas for topics or speakers you'd be interested in hearing about at upcoming APT meetings, please do reach out as I would love recommendations! We are very excited to have Officer Christiansen on board to attend our first meeting of 2017 on January 17 @ 9 am. He will be discussing social media for grade school kids and how it evolves as they move towards DPM. If you have any questions/topics you would like him to address, please drop me a quick email (email@example.com).
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions & thanks for everyone's continued enthusiasm, commitment and support!
