Mission Statement
The mission of the Lake Forest District 67 Association of Parents and Teachers is to foster cooperative working relationships, to promote communication within the school community, and to enhance the education and enrichment of our children. Membership in APT supports the children, parents and professionals (teachers, administration, and support staff).
The APT embraces our responsibility to promote respect and inclusion for all parties as cornerstones of these relationships. Our purpose is to establish a close working relationship among the home, school, and community that all may cooperate effectively.
We support, through organization and volunteer help, those activities that offer direct educational enrichment for our children as well as those that add to the positive culture and climate of our schools. A few of the many efforts include: Community Service & Events, Board of Education, LFHS, Recreation Center & Spirit of 67 Liaisons, Directory, EFFORT, Fine Arts, Parent Awareness & LEAD, Room Parents & Volunteer Coordinators, Social Activities, Special Events, and Visiting Author.
We take responsibility to be informed about District issues. We work to communicate to our membership through various means and to keep them apprised of all matters occurring in the District.

These are two-year positions and numerous positions become available each spring. BEYOND THE BOARD We need lots of volunteers to do the work of the APT each year. Maybe you want to help out with specific events or be a room parent. We are also always looking for businesses that wish to donate to our events. If you are interested check out our Volunteering opportunities. SHERIDAN APT MEETINGS They are open to all parents of Sheridan School students, and we welcome and encourage your attendance. Meetings begin promptly at 9:00 am and are held in the Sheridan IRC (library). Coming to a meeting is a great way to learn more about what is happening in our community and to figure out how you might like to be involved. CLASSROOM VOLUNTEERS At curriculum night and throughout the year Room Parents will be asking parents to help with field trips, class parties, other special class projects, and more. Please contact your Room Parents at anytime with questions or to offer to help. |
What does the APT do for Sheridan School?
We help to create a strong community through social events for our kids, families, and parents.
We support the education of our children by organizing activities that enhance the curriculum and give them cultural experiences.
We serve on a variety of District 67 and Community Committees and Boards to keep our parents informed and to provide input from our parent community when needed.
We help to run District wide community service initiatives here at Sheridan.
We make an effort to find ways to make Sheridan school a beautiful and welcoming environment for our children.
We provide some unique services to our school community that help facilitate communication, make our lives easier, honor our children and teachers, build school spirit and capture special memories of our kids’ time at Sheridan.
We support & appreciate our teachers throughout the year.
